The COVID-19 has changed every aspect of normal human lifestyle. In a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 virus infection, the Indian government announced a nation-wide lockdown from 25th March to 14th April 2020. The strict regulations were imposed so that the infection spread may be arrested at once. This meant that all shops, had to be closed and all works except for essential government work to be ceased.
This had a huge impact on the 65.27% of rural population of India who majorly thrive on daily wage work in construction sites, factories, agricultural farms to name a few. The immediate action made them jobless and hence many are struggling to get even one meal a day.
Rising to this cause and looking at the deplorable situation, the Ideal society volunteers distributed 407 packets of essential food supplies and hygiene materials to the slum area. For this the money was raised from friends, family, and staff. The essential packet included, cereals, pulses, oil, sugar, and salt. The hygiene packet included soap, masks, gloves and sanitary pads. The Bhopal district administration gave complete support for the distribution of packets with the police personnel making sure that there would be a safe distance maintained between beneficiaries and no rush. The administration also praised the sacrificial efforts of the ideal society and the volunteers who came forward for this initiative.
